Phone Forensics Deconstructed

Advanced Level | 3 days

Course Aims

Phone Forensics Deconstructed is a 3 day next level mobile phone forensics course designed to give phone examiners a greater understanding of the data they already retrieve (e.g. how are SMS stored within a handset?), coupled with the skills to find and recover traces of the ever increasing Internet browsing and social networking usage with mobile phones.

Developing an in-depth understanding of how mobile phones actually store data paves the way for effective identification and retrieval of key evidence which you might not even know existed.

What you will learn

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Locate and interpret traces of Internet activity from mobile phones
  • Recover live and deleted SMS, pictures, audio, video and MMS from memory dumps of a wide range of mobile phone handsets
  • Locate and recover traces of social networking usage (e.g. Facebook) from mobile phones
  • Explain and justify their actions in court

Ideally delegates would have previously attended the Control-F Foundation in Mobile Phone Forensics course (or equivalent).
