Control-F is a specialist digital forensics training provider offering short courses to private and public sector organisations and teams in both in the UK and overseas.

Control-F educates with integrity so that justice can be served.

We provide classroom and online training in digital forensics; a discipline that we have lived and breathed since 2007. We teach those tasked with recovering digital evidence from mobile devices, computers, in fact any electronic device; as well as those who need to understand that data.

We train the majority of UK police forces, other law enforcement organisations and private sector service providers from our base on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border.

In April 2026, Control-F became an employee-owned business, placing its future in the hands of its team. This transition reflects our commitment to protecting the values, expertise, and integrity that have defined Control-F since its inception, while ensuring the business continues to evolve and thrive for the long term.

Vendor-neutral

All of our training courses are ‘vendor-neutral’; by that we mean that we make the decision as to which (if any) commercial forensic tools to include within our training. We receive no commission from tool providers for including their tools in our training, nor do they influence the content of our training courses. In fact, much of our training emphasises the limitations of commercial forensic tools and how easy it can be to miss critical evidence which tools may not have extracted or may have extracted, but not decoded correctly.

We believe in teaching the underlying principles of how electronic devices operate and store data and how to safely recover digital evidence in accordance with the ACPO Principles of Computer Based Evidence and complementing these with experience of market leading forensic tools, alongside free and open source software.

The consumer electronics industry (which ultimately generates a lot of the data that we capture and analyse in digital forensics) moves at a relentless rate. New devices, launches of new operating system versions and updates to mobile apps mean that the functionality of devices is continually evolving as well as the forensic artefacts those devices contain.

We continually review the content of all of our courses (training materials and devices used in class) to ensure that what we deliver is relevant and useful to our customers and reflects what they will encounter on their return to the workplace.

Digital forensics can be be complicated. Viewing and making sense of raw data can be daunting at best, and at its worst, utterly bewildering. At Control-F, we excel in communicating complex concepts in an simple and accessible way.

We believe that simple visuals are far more powerful than wordy PowerPoint slides. We invest time and effort to make sure that our materials support our students through their learning, both in the classroom and back in the workplace.
