Luke Hopkin

Luke is a Digital Forensic Examiner specialising in the recovery of data from damaged and non-functional mobile devices. With over 11 years of experience in microsoldering and electronics, he brings a rare combination of board-level repair expertise and digital forensic investigation experience.

In his role, he sees the day-to-day challenges examiners face and focuses on devices typically considered beyond recovery, restoring heavily damaged hardware to enable forensic extraction where conventional methods are not possible.

Before moving into digital forensics, Luke spent eight years in the private sector as a lead technician in device refurbishment and data recovery, repairing thousands of mobile devices and developing advanced board-level repair techniques.

Away from the lab, Luke races his 1973 Volkswagen Beetle and enjoys developing his high-performance air-cooled engine.
