I have a mobility impairment

Please speak to your trainer at the earliest opportunity and we will do what we can to make you comfortable within our classroom and that you can get around the training venue safely and easily.

We pre-allocate seating within the classroom but we can easily change your location to ensure it’s accessible and convenient for you.

The fire exit at the rear of the classroom has a ramp (outside the door).

I am, or think I might be, dyslexic

We recognise that dyslexia can not only present challenges for delegates, but that those challenges are different for each individual;  that there is no “one size fits all” solution.

Regardless of whether you notified us of this prior to arrival, we would encourage you to make your trainer aware – ideally as early in the course as possible (for example on a coffee break).

Once your trainer is aware and we have a better understanding of your specific needs, we can help by (for example):

  • Providing digital copies of materials for you to read in advance of a lesson
  • Assisting with enabling Windows accessibility features to reduce “visual stress” (e.g. colour schemes). Your Windows account has admin rights, so feel free to change these yourself if you know how.
  • Re-printing materials using alternate fonts/colours
  • Providing additional time in any assessment activity
  • Providing audio versions of assessment questions
  • Providing extra support outside of lessons

We would welcome any feedback you might have on how we can make our training materials and delivery more accessible to dyslexic students in the future.

I have Colour Vision Deficiency (a.k.a. “colour blindness”)

Regardless of whether you notified us of this prior to arrival, we would encourage you to make your trainer aware – ideally as early in the course as possible (for example on a coffee break).

We try and avoid using red and green as highlight colours in our training materials, but we know that there will always be ways in which we can make our materials more “CVD friendly”.

Once your trainer is aware and we have a better understanding of your specific needs, we can help by (for example):

  • Providing digital copies of materials for you to read in advance of a lesson
  • Assisting with enabling Windows accessibility features to use a “CVD friendly” colour scheme
  • Re-printing materials using colour schemes

We would welcome any feedback you might have on how we can make our training materials and delivery more accessible to those with colour vision deficiency in the future.

I am, or think I might be, autistic

We recognise that autism can not only present challenges for delegates, but that those challenges are different for each individual;  that there is no “one size fits all” solution.

  • Providing additional time in any assessment activity
  • Providing extra support outside of lessons

We’re not autism experts, but by listening to our autistic students we hope to be able to better support them in how we design our materials and our courses.

I have a visual impairment

Regardless of whether you notified us of this prior to arrival, we would encourage you to make your trainer aware – ideally as early in the course as possible (for example on a coffee break).

Where possible we use screen relay software to broadcast the trainer’s screen to student PCs to assist with readability.

We do pre-allocate classroom seating positions, but if you let your trainer know, we can easily reposition you in the classroom if that would help you.

  • Providing digital copies of materials for you to read in advance of a lesson

I have a hearing impairment

Regardless of whether you notified us of this prior to arrival, we would encourage you to make your trainer aware – ideally as early in the course as possible (for example on a coffee break).

We do pre-allocate classroom seating positions, but if you let your trainer know, we can easily reposition you in the classroom to assist you.

Once your trainer is aware and we have a better understanding of your specific needs, we can help by (for example):

Making sure the trainer is positioned so that you can see them clearly when they are speaking
Providing digital copies of materials for you to read in advance of a lesson
Providing extra support outside of lessons

I have a dietary requirement

Regardless of whether you notified us of this prior to arrival, we would encourage you to make your trainer aware – ideally as early in the course as possible (for example on a coffee break).

We can alert our catering suppliers and get you the information and guidance you need.
